Owned and operated by Kevin and Karen McGee, Niverak Smash Repairs have been an integral part of Cloncurry for more than 35 years providing an essential service to the town’s residents and the surrounding region throughout that time.

Born and raised in Cloncurry, Kev completed his coach and body building (that’s vehicles, not muscles) apprenticeship under his father, Kevin, and began working in his business, North West Panel Works. Kev worked odd jobs after the family business closed, but, motivated by his love of panel beating, made the decision to open Niverak Smash Repairs in 1984 alongside his wife Karen.

Since then, Kev and Karen have managed the business together, with Kev running the workshop and Karen the front office – though she is also extremely knowledgeable in all vehicle matters. The couple has four adult children, including a son Ben, who completed an apprenticeship and worked alongside his father for many years before moving away. Over the past decades, the McGee family have grown Niverak into an indispensable part of the local community, sponsoring many local charities and sporting groups over the years and continuing to do so today.

The Niverak team also includes Daniel and Anthony, who joined the business in 2013 and 2014 respectively. Daniel, a qualified spray painter, and Anthony, a qualified panel beater, both hail from the Philippines and have become invaluable to the business and cherished by their Cloncurry neighbours. Both Daniel and Anthony gained Australian citizenship in 2019, and Daniel was recently joined by his wife Wendy and son Elijah, who are settling into town well and enjoying their new home.
